There is no movie that we all watch together at home without first going to the kitchen to make some crispy popcorn. Years ago, for convenience and speed, we made them in the microwave, but I've always wondered why we don't make homemade popcorn, the old kind?
When I was little, at my house, we even had a pan suitable for making popcorn. Well, look how things are, this weekend I bought the corn and made some homemade style popcorn, the most garish and strident. Also, as in my childhood, I put grated cheese on top. We have eaten them in the blink of an eye.
Apart from the fact that the flavor of the homemade popcorn is more exquisite, it also seems more crunchy to me. And much cheaper. It's a shame that popcorn is no longer sold on the street, as before. Now, if you go to the movies, many times I have felt that instead of eating popcorn, I was eating white cork. I do not mean to criticize this alternative, what happens is that for what they cost, which are very expensive, they could well be of better quality. Well, if you want to try this experience, I recommend that you follow the recipe. It's easy!
- 1/4 cup of popcorn
- 2 tablespoons (soup) of virgin olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Optional: melted butter, grated cheese, etc.
preparation: In a saucepan with a lid, combine and mix the corn and olive oil well. Cover the casserole and bring it to medium heat, stirring it over and over until you see that the corn begins to break. It will show through the loud noise. Lower the heat a little, keep the pan covered, and keep shaking it until you notice that the noise has stopped. That means all the corn will have turned into popcorn. Take the lid off, and put butter or grated cheese on top, or just the salt. Pour the popcorn into a bowl, and go for the movie!
