Surely you remember (I remember it with a bit of mania): every time you misspelled a word during an exercise in class, you had to copy it many times (as many as the teacher's badness wanted) so that in your head it would notice how is spelled correctly. It is certainly a good way to memorize, but isn't there a more fun way for the little ones not to make mistakes? In our site we propose you the superword technique, which helps children learn spelling in a more dynamic way.

In an attempt to find a slightly more original resource to attract the attention of children, many have tried to invent a thousand and one games to learn the spelling rules. An applause for all them! This technique that I propose to you is a version applied to the classroom of something that I used to do when you were studying and that used to work very well for me to reinforce what I failed at. We tell you what it consists of step by step:

1. To apply the superwords technique with your students, you need each table in the class (or each of your students if you want to do it individually) have a small container. It can be a small box, an empty can of preserves, the bottom of a cut plastic bottle (file the edges well or put adhesive tape so they do not cut), an envelope ... Any container in which the children can put Small folded papers might do the trick.

2. Every time children make a spelling mistake, when dictating, for example, the failed word will become a superword... And it will deserve special attention, as a good superword that it is. The child will have to write it down on a small piece of paper and place it in its box.

3. At the end of the day (or once every two days), you can spend some time in class to 'pamper' those superwords who are waiting in the boxes for the students to give them love. Without looking, each child will have to take a piece of paper from the box and read the word aloud, so that the rest of the class can listen and also learn how to spell correctly.

4. Then the time will come to play with the word. Every day you can invent different activities to work with that word. The idea is that the child has to write it several times so that he learns the spelling rules. You can ask your students to invent jokes that contain that word, riddles whose solution is the word itself, pictures made with words (pinacograms or anagrams), a dictation to the rest of the class that contains the word itself ...

Encourage the children to share superword in all possible ways with the rest of the classmates around them so that everyone learns their correct writing. In addition, you should take the opportunity to explain the spelling rules related to the word itself.

5. Once the activities are finished, the superword will return to the box, so that in the future the child can remember it again. After a while, when it is considered appropriate, the words with which the children have worked will be withdrawn to give way to new ones that they must learn.

For the children to better embrace this activity, we recommend that you consider it as a fun game, in which they have to overcome little by little. The day will come when your box of superwords is empty! Involve your students in the entire creation process so that they become more involved: dedicate an afternoon for the students to decorate the boxes as they like best, prepare a color code ...

The superwords technique helps children to review what they have previously failed to learn from it and not make the same misspelling again. But, there are many other benefits that are practiced with an activity like this.
